Smood alternative

Smood has closed – the alternative for Swiss restaurants

Smood stopped its delivery service on 30 April 2026; its website now points to Just Eat. Restaurants that do not want to hand their regulars to another commission platform take orders through their own system: 0% commission, fixed monthly price from CHF 29.

What happened to Smood

Migros Genève closed its delivery service Smood at the end of April 2026. Media cited strong international competition and higher social charges for couriers after a Federal Supreme Court ruling. Restaurants that sold through Smood have to reorganise their online orders.

Three ways forward after Smood

1. Switch to another platform (Just Eat, Uber Eats) – with commission and without your own guest data. 2. Build your own ordering system and deliver yourself or with a courier partner. 3. Combine both: platform for new customers, own system for regulars. For most businesses option 3 is the most robust.

What Akarien Direct does differently

Guests order on your own website or by QR code at the table. You pay a fixed monthly price instead of commission, the guest data is yours, and the system works in German, French, Italian and English – important in Romandy, where Smood was strongest.

Keep your regulars

Tell your guests about your new ordering channel: QR code on the packaging and on the table, link in your Google Business Profile and on social media. Repeat orders then come straight to you instead of the next platform.

Smood no longer exists. Restaurants that sold through Smood should use the moment to move at least their regulars to their own commission-free ordering channel – and use a platform only for new customers.
